School Leadership Team

The KWS leadership team comprises individuals who possess a wealth of experience in the management of schools and the varied aspects of education. The leadership team includes the Chief Executive Officer, Head of Education, Deputy Head (Principal), Heads of Primary, Middle and Secondary School, Head of Professional Development of the KWS Learning Centre. The team is responsible for designing and delivering of high quality education and services as envisioned in the vision and mission of the school.

Rajendra K. Ghising, Ph.D.

Chief Executive Officer

Rajendra K. Ghising, the Chief Executive Officer, joined Kathmandu World School in November 2015. He has been involved from the very inception of the school in providing inputs for the design and development of the school infrastructure and facilities as well as in administrative and financial management. Before he joined Kathmandu World School, he was associated for more than two decades with GEMS School.

In his more than two decades with GEMS, he successfully led the finance and operations departments, and in his capacity as the CEO for the last eight years, he was the principal architect in the areas of financial management, strategic planning, execution and new business developments. He played a key role in collaborating with international education institutes in providing a twinning programme in the institution.

He earned his MBA from Ace Institute of Management, Pokhara University, Nepal and Ph. D. in Management from Angeles University, Philippines. In addition, he is a Kaplan–Norton Balanced Scorecard Certified Graduate administered by the Palladium, USA. Dr. Ghising has attended several Executive Education Courses on Strategy Development and Execution such as Advanced Strategic Management in International Institute of Management Development (IMD), Switzerland, one of the leading business schools in the world, Strategy Development for Successful Execution in Doha, Qatar, Kaplan–Norton Master Class, etc. He has visited several world–class schools in Singapore, Malaysia and India for an in-depth understanding of school infrastructure, facilities, systems and pedagogic principles.

Vani Rana

Vani Rana

Vice Principal (Head of Elementary School)

Ms. Vani Rana, is the Head of Elementary School (I – VIII). She has extensive experience in teaching and academic administration particularly in the elementary level. She is well–versed with the modern teaching–learning pedagogies such as enquiry–based and student–centered approaches, academic planning, assessment and teacher–training. Before joining Kathmandu World School, she worked at Ullens School, one of the reputed schools in Nepal, as a teacher for three years and as the Head of the Elementary School for five years.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Sociology from Tribhuvan University, Nepal and Master of Science in Education from Bank Street College of Education, USA. She also did a Professional Development Certificate course from Columbia University, New York, USA. In addition, she has attended numerous trainings and workshops on student–centered teaching and academic administration. She has also spearheaded many academic initiatives and conducted trainings and workshops for teachers in her previous school. An avid reader, she brings with her some valuable experience in international education and forms an integral part of this collaborative and passionate learning community at KWS.

San Awale

San Awale

Head of Administration and Operations

Mr. San Awale is the Head of Administration and Operations at Kathmandu World School. He was involved with various organizations, academic and others, in managerial roles where he was responsible for administrative tasks as well as site management. He has a wealth of experience of working in an international school setting and knows about school administration policies and operational procedures.
He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Ace Institute of Management, Pokhara University, Nepal.

Prior to joining Kathmandu World School, he was working as an Operations Manager at The British School (TBS),Kathmandu. He also has experience as a Project Manager for a social initiative program, which ensured the right to education of children living and working in difficult circumstances.

Naina Shah

Naina Shah

Elementary School Coordinator

Ms. Naina Shah is the Elementary School Coordinator (Grade I-V). Ms. Naina holds a Master’s Degree in Sociology from Tribhuvan University and a Bachelor’s in Psychology, Sociology and English (PSENG) from Christ College, Bangalore. She has been working in the educational sector for the past 5 years in different capacities. Ms. Naina believes in the values of progressive education and has initiated many learning projects in her classroom. Her versatile and lively personality complements her passion for education. She loves to travel, read, and cook during her free time.


Tomila Pun

Tomila Pun

Elementary School Coordinator

Ms. Tomila Pun is the Elementary School Coordinator (1-5). Ms. Pun has worked as teacher and preschool coordinator at Euro Kids. She has profuse experience in child-centered teaching methods as well as in academic administration. She has participated in numerous teacher trainings and workshops, and has also conducted such trainings herself. Ms. Pun strongly believes in the value of quality education and holistic development of children through the inclusion of role play and project based learning in the curriculum.

She is an internationally certified trainer for Youth Leadership and has been actively involved in the organization of youth campaigns. She loves to volunteer for social causes and enjoys traveling in her free time.

Admissions and Liaison Officer

Ms. Shromona Thapa is the Admissions and Liaison Officer at Kathmandu World School. She has been involved with various organizations, academic and others, in managerial and marketing roles. She has the experience of working in a school setting and is aware of modern child centered teaching-learning pedagogies.
